Spokane, WA - Day 4

We rode 94 miles under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 80's.  A 6 mile climb out of the Coulee Dam valley worked up a nice appetite for an early stop at Sandy's Bakery and Deli halfway to lunch.  The cherry turnover, crisp and flaky, hit the spot.  With a stiff headwind Glenn(CO) and I worked a two-man pace line from our stop to lunch in Davenport, WA.  With this being the second day in a row with mileage close to a century, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the final miles into Spokane were downhill and on a bicycle path overlooking the Spokane River ( pics) as it flowed into and through Spokane.  In the park in Spokane the river becomes white water as it flows under the bridge in town.  Staying in the Couglin Hall dorm on the Gonzaga University campus in Spokane is a treat for us - no tents and great shower facilities.  Tom and I shared a room.
