Star Lake, NY - Day 55

Stats: We rode 62 miles under partly sunny skies with temperatures in the high 70's.  Today we entered the Adirondacks region of New York State.  That means back to mountains and climbing ( although not as long as out west) for the rest of the ride of which today was the beginning.  Since our climbing conditioning has wasted away for the past 4 weeks with the relatively flat terrain of the central US, we will have "fun" going at it again.  As we rode deeper into the Adirondacks, I kept recalling the scenery of the movie "The Last of the Mohicans".  That is what we were riding through with paved roads and a few more bars and gas stations.  Star Lake itself is a small somewhat desolate older lake community with 1 gas station, 1 grocery, 1 tavern etc.  I tried to find a barber with no luck.  For entertainment after riding, several of us ( Tom, Tony, Margaret and I) bought a snack and beer at the IGA and sat on the side of the road across the street observing the traffic go by.  Camp and dinner this evening are at the Clifton-Fine Central School with dry conditions and an expected 50 for the low.
