Tom and I skipped the picnic lunch and headed straight for Mt. Rushmore after exiting the Iron Mountain Highway. We struggled through the steep 1 1/2 mile climb to get to the Mt Rushmore entrance after 45 miles of riding so far. Once there we spent an hour eating lunch, touring the museum and viewing the monument. Pretty impressive to see this first hand for the first time. The whole complex is very well done. After leaving Mr Rushmore we finally headed for Rapid City, our campsite for this evening.
