On the Road to Sodus - Day 52

In the morning we headed north out of Albion to get back to the Lake Ontario shoreline and turned east to continue riding parallel to the south shore of Lake Ontario.  We rode on the Lake Ontario State Parkway, part of the Seaway Trail, for 33 miles almost all the way into Rochester.  The Parkway is a lightly travelled 4 lane highway which starts near Albion and ends just west of Rochester.  Lunch was at the Durand Eastman Park on the west side of Rochester and Irondequoit Bay at mile 44.  At lunch I captured a picture of Nathan, Keri and Larry, who started with us in Everett but must leave us tomorrow after 7 1/2 weeks.  In the pm we were back on a traditional 2 lane country road filled with fruit stands offering the local fresh fruit.  The shoreline, frequently in view, consisted of beautiful homes ranging from classic old colonial to modern day styles which backed up to the lake.  In other areas we saw open spaces with orchards and marinas.  Every waterway flowing into the lake had its grouping of homes and docks.  As the afternoon wore on and the humidity increased, our desire and need for an ice cream stop increased.  However none were to be found until just before our destination at Burnap Fruit Stand 2 miles north of Sodus.  It was well received and we did indulge.  At this point I chose the option to ride 7 extra miles and visit Sodus Point, a resort community.
