Lake Placid, NY Rest Day - Day 57

This rest day in Lake Placid is the last of the trip.  Tom and I spent the day either together or on our own seeing the sights.  First we had breakfast with Bill (PA) on the porch at Chair 6 which is a house turned into a unique restaurant with great food.  Back at our camp, I had some bike maintenance to take care of before the fun could begin.  Yesterday I put a nail through my new tire that I replaced in Ludington and had to replace it again.  That completed, I toured the ice arena at Lake Placid where the "Miracle on Ice" took place when the US hockey team beat the Soviets at the 1980 Olympics.  It is small by today's standards but one can just imagine the intense emotions during the game and when the final buzzer sounded.  After a bit of window shopping, junk food consumption and book reading, we had dinner in town at the Northwoods Inn, a historic hotel in the heart of Lake Placid.  The picture shows Greg, our leader, conducting the final Sunday evening introductory meeting for our last week of riding.  Tonight storms are expected so we have moved our tents inside the viewing stand at the Horse Show Grounds which is the long white building at the campsite.  We should be safe and comfortable for the evening no matter what happens.
