Lake Placid, NY - Day 56
Stats: We rode 72 miles today under partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 70's. With the humidity, it was warm by the time we finished riding. We arrived in Lake Placid at 1:30pm and set up camp at the Horse Show Grounds 2 miles outside downtown. The grounds are the site of the 1980 Olympic flame and sit in the shadow of the Olympic ski jumps visible behind the tents in the picture. The aerial view of the campsite is from the top of the ski jump. The top picture is Whiteface Mountain which is a ski resort and the location of some of the Olympic ski competitions in 1980. Having set up camp, we are off to explore Lake Placid and eat dinner. Lake Placid has a super free trolley system that we used to get back and forth from camp and downtown.
