On the Road to Interior - Day 26

As we rode through downtown Rapid City to start the day the temperatures were warm and comfortable and would soon climb into the mid 90's.  We are into the flat and hot lands of western South Dakota.  The roads were flat and fast as we kept hydrated with fill ups at each water stop.  Just before lunch we rode past a highway crew putting down new pavement for several miles.  Our tires sounded like they were sticking to the pavement as we rolled along.  Lunch at mile 48 was in Scenic, SD just off Hwy 44 which is a scenic old ghost town with rustic wooden buildings.  In the afternoon we entered Badlands National Park and began to see glimpses of the park terrain.  We would ride through the real scenic Badlands National Park terrain tomorrow.
